Classes

The Four Seasons Yoga Studio opened in October 2021.

Megan has been thrilled to welcome both experienced and many beginner yoga students to her studio.
Classes are offered from Beginner level to Intermediate/Advanced level.
Megan wants her students to recognise that Yoga is not about who can perform the most ‘Instagram worthy pose’ or who is most flexible. In fact, Yoga is much more about strength and stability than flexibility. Focusing on your breath during class helps to calm our nervous system and enhance our wellbeing. Many of us live each day with feelings of anxiety or stress, consequently taking rapid and shallow breaths.  We can make profound changes to our mind and body by slowing and deepening our breath.  You will be doing this your entire yoga practise.
The physical poses of yoga are also incredibly beneficial to align our posture, strengthen and lengthen our muscles which in turn often leads to relief of body/muscular ailments or discomfort.
Private classes; Sports clubs; Schools and Corporate Yoga lessons also available on request

Yang Classes

Yang classes include many of the basic yoga poses with emphasis on ensuring students feel confident, strong and safe in each of the poses and to know that they are not in competition with anyone else. Many modifications are also offered to give students the options to either go a little easier on themselves or, if they wish, to challenge themselves.  We need to listen to what our body is telling us.  Every practise we attend we may be feeling different and we need to honour our body and emotions at that time. This 1 hour practice incorporates a warm up, flow, standing poses, seated poses and relaxation at the end.

Yin Classes

While “yang” yoga focuses on your muscles, yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.

The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely.

In a Yang practice we often hold poses for approximately 5 breaths. In a Yin practice we can be in a pose on average 3 to 5 minutes.

Gentle/Restorative Classes

This practice will gently stretch and strengthen the muscles of the body. There will be some standing postures but the majority of the class will be on the floor. Props such as bolsters and blocks can be used to physically support students and encourage deep relaxation which further helps with letting go of tension and stress. Modifications can be made for students coming back from an injury or ailment.

Sports Clubs

Many top athletes from all fields of sport regularly use yoga in their training.
Yoga poses energizes the body with strength, flexibility, and balance. Poses improve circulation and can help relieve body aches and pains and help develop balance, coordination, focus, resistance and improve breathing capacity.
Programs can be designed to incorporate poses that are most beneficial for stretching, strengthening and supporting areas of the body that are most often used in specific sporting practises.
Improving flexibility and strengthening muscles can help build stamina and release stress. Injury prevention and shortening the duration of injury recovery time is also a greatly beneficial aspect of Yoga for athletes.

Yoga For School Students

Yoga classes for children from Kindergarten age right through to High School, provide countless benefits. Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, experiences and capability. It provides children the opportunity to practise in a non-competitive environment.  It gives them a chance to focus on themselves and their own well-being, both physically and mentally.  It provides tools for them to use throughout life to help them balance and manage their emotions and stress.  Classes can be tailored to the age of the student, ie for younger children, making fun shapes or animal poses with the body.
Please contact Megan to confirm prices and schedule availability.

Corporate Yoga

Many of us spend too long sitting hunched over our desks in the office.  Yoga can bring much needed opening, release and relaxation to our upper body and help to bring energy and vitality back to our entire body that often sits stagnant each day.
The wellbeing and support of your staff is so important. Yoga can bring a sense of calm and comradery as colleagues practise together.
The practise of yoga helps to control stress, fatigue, anxiety and maintaining a calm mind.
Megan can come to your premises (ideally you have a clear space large enough to space mats comfortably apart).  Megan can bring necessary props if students don’t have their own.  Students need to wear comfortable, non-restrictive, stretchy clothing.
